Slow Down and Feel Better

There are never enough hours in the day for us to accomplish everything we need. Most people we know always feel like they’re in a rush and have too much to do. Balancing work with a social life is one of the most widespread challenges of our time. These challenges are exactly why NINE10 Coastal Concierge was founded. We want our clients to feel that they have more time and less to do.

We frequently read articles that touch on aspects of this phenomenon – too much technology, work-life balance, working parents, “having it all”, sleep deprivation, the fear of asking others for help and the culture of wanting it all, NOW!

Many of us know all too well about the mental and emotional effects that come into play when we try to do too much, not to mention the toll it takes on relationships with friends and families. Our lives, both at home and at work, suffer when we don’t take care of ourselves first.

It’s not an easy life pattern to change but it is important to keep in mind that self-care is not selfish. Start by taking small steps to slow down your everyday life and you may be surprised to notice the positive changes in how you are feeling. Here are a few things to try for yourself!

• Get outside and go for a walk

• Call or FaceTime a friend you haven’t talked to in awhile

• Go on a date night— try a new restaurant, go to the movies, go bowling

• Write in a journal

• Listen to music

• Take a Yoga class or a boxing class (work out your aggressions in your own personal way)

• Read a book (for pleasure, not work!)

• Meditate

• Lock your cell phone in a drawer for an hour each day

• Outsource your to-do list
