Songs to Quarantine By
Updated: Mar 22, 2020

Man!  What a year this week has been!  Am I right? I don’t know about you guys, but I found myself listening to a ton of music this week.  I also find that when I listen to music, I accomplish more, my mood is elevated and quite honestly, I dance.  If I turn on the television, I get sucked in and accomplish less and the same goes for my phone.  Plus, nothing on tv or social media was making me feel much better this week, and I definitely wasn’t dancing to any of the stuff I was hearing on the news.  However, music; music always makes me feel better.  Sometimes music is the only medicine the heart and soul need.

So, I started listening to music on my Amazon Music app and started going through the quarantine motions and emotions.  Like most people, my week began like any other week.  I went to work, I met with clients, I had lunch with friends, I shook hands, I hugged people; but this looming feeling that the world around us was changing was weighing heavily on my shoulders as I bought extra supplies, fielded calls from worried parents and concerned clients, and couldn’t decide if I was too worried or not worried enough.

The week quickly snowballed.  All of my jobs, like so many others, were canceled and I ended up being home almost 100% of the time.  This thing was now “real” and what could I do?  Nothing, but stay home.  I realized that this was the first full day I had been home ALL DAY in probably eight months or more!  I know what you’re thinking; you can’t be serious!  But, I am!  Besides the holidays, where I spent four days home with my family, this was my first real “first day off work” in a very long time.

So, what did I do, you ask?  I opened up the windows, let the fresh air in, and turned the music up even louder!  I spent the next three days spring cleaning my apartment, reorganizing shelves and cabinets, dancing in and out of every room, sweating my butt off and enjoying myself.  You know why?  Because, what other choice did I have?! I danced, I cleaned, I napped, I walked my dog (because at this point he thought I was losing my mind and was a little confused about why I was home so much).  I was making the best of a bad situation.

By the end of the week, I realized that my Amazon Music app had created a “My Soundtrack” list for me, which I have turned into a playlist that I’m fondly calling the “Corona Chronicles”.  It almost mirrors my moods and emotions throughout the week.  It starts out with a little It’s The End of the World As We Know It (and I Feel Fine) and I Want to be Sedated, continues with a few songs about feeling alone or fearful about the entire situation.

However, we quickly remember that we have to Get Up Offa That Thing because perhaps the house is a little dirty.  Should we work on some Dirty Laundry and get to Washing Dishes?  All I know is, my apartment is currently So Fresh, So Clean!

You know who isn’t So Fresh, So Clean? This girl!  There’s been a ton of Dancing With Myself!  But ladies, Ohhhh ladies, I can’t help but walk by a mirror and think, Dang…You Sexy Thing!  PS – my dog thinks I’m beautiful alllll the time!

I think you guys are getting the gist of my week.  When you’re happy, you enjoy the music.  When you’re sad, you understand the lyrics. I’ll admit, some days this week I needed the music, and some days I definitely needed the lyrics.  I have Faith that we will be Just Fine and that Someday We’ll Be Together!  It may take another week or two, or possibly more.  We may need to unplug 2020, wait 30 seconds and plug her back in, but we will reset this year and then This Will Be Our Year!

If you have Amazon Music, you can listen to Corona Chronicles below.  If not, below is a full list of the songs and artists to download on your preferred music app.  I hope you enjoy!  Please comment back with any additions to this list!  Let’s keep the music and positive vibes flowing.  Music is life. That’s why our hearts have beats!

Stay safe and stay healthy!
